Gabriela Hess has been practicing and teaching this fine and delicate writing for years. It is similar to a Copperplate cursive, but written with greater freedom and spontaneity. It is a practical handbook where Gabriela expresses all her feelings about calligraphy and it is also good to know that some of her students have collaborated to the design and texts. One of the main characteristics of Soleil is the lack of alignments, the letters give a sense of movement and the lay-out is wavy and dynamic. This writing can therefore be considered as an informal Copperplate, without its extreme rigor, instead much more dynamic and gestural. The book teaches the letters step by step and offers Gabriela's practical examples, from the simplest to the most pictorial.
