Hunt nibs
• Hunt 22 – also known as Hunt 22B – one of the best nibs for Copperplate and Spencerian. Excellent flexibility, the hairlines are very thin and the contrast is good. It has a tendency to catch the paper on the up strokes.
Can be mounted on the Speedball oblique penholder, which is a low budget penholder, or on the Handwritmic CLASSIC oblique penholder, wooden penholder which will last forever.
Barbara Calzolari’s review:
Grade 7 ½ - 8.
Can hold the ink after a quick burning, cleaning and rubbing with a cloth.
Hairlines from medium to fine.
Good flexibility.
Holds enough ink.
Excellent for Copperplate.
• Hunt 56 - Similar dimension as Hunt 22, it is in fact very hard.
It is too long for the Speedball oblique penholder, but can be mounted on the Handwritmic CLASSIC oblique penholder, wooden penholder which will last forever.
Barbara Calzolari’s review:
Grade 7
Holds ink well once burnt.
Hairlines from medium to fine.
Little flexibility.
Holds little ink.
Excellent for writing monoline roman capitals and lombardic.
• Hunt 99 – the smallest of the four Hunt nibs, it is extremely flexible and more contrasted than Hunt 22 and Hunt 56. Can be mounted on the standard penholder, on the Speedball oblique penholder and on the Handwritmic CLASSIC oblique penholder, wooden penholder which will last forever.
