Osprey Madison fountain pen

These pens are a great everyday writer. If you have been thinking about picking up a fountain pen for the first time, or are interested in sharing your love for fountain pens and cursive writing with others, this is the pen to get. They make for a great gift.

The pen body is not too heavy or too light, feels sturdy on the hand. The pen is made from Acrylic material.

Available nibs:

• These pens were selected because they have a very flexible steel nib with gold details (2tone nibs). The nib sizes are five: EEF, EF, F, M and B. The flexibility makes them suitable for true calligraphy enthusiasts, those who want to work with the flexibility of the nib (for writing all the styles of Copperplate, but not only). It can be very satisfying to write an italic hand with subtle stroke variation by altering the pressure on the nib.

• A sixth nib is a real calligraphic nib, one of the best (the Zebra G titanium). Thanks to the well-calibrated feeder, the result is a constant ink flow. The nib is extremely soft and flexible especially if the writer has a heavy hand. Writing with this nib is an exciting experience but some aspects must be kept in mind: the nib must be separated from the feeder and washed after each use. Use the "spool" tool attached to the pen to remove the nib. Wash it, also wash the black ebonite feeder and dry them both very well. After these operations which must be carried out with care, reassemble the nib which will be ready for the next use. If this operation is not carried out, or if only washing is carried out but not drying, the risk is that the nib will oxidise and no longer work.

Please note that the Zebra G titanium nib can be replaced by purchasing a spare nib or a Zebra G steel nib (see at the bottom of the page). The functioning of the pen is identical. Feeder and ink:

The pens have an ebonite feeder which works with a wider range of inks and is able to keep up with the ink demands of a flex nib, unlike a plastic feeder. Do not use India Inks, they can clog the ebonite feeds. Fountain Pen inks are recommended. 

We recommend the following inks:

• Ultra-flex 2tone nibs: any fountain pen ink without gum arabic. No indian ink.

• Zebra G titanium nib: Hamburg Cagliostro Black, Waterman Black, Pilot Hiroshizuku Black, Pilot Namiki Black. We are currently testing the use of the colored Hamburg inks.
