This book sheds light on the exponents of the Wiesbaden School: Friedrich Poppl (1923–1982) and Werner Schneider (1935–2022), both teachers at the Wiesbaden School of Applied Arts, while Gottfried Pott (1939–2024) was Poppl's student. These calligraphers and typeface designers were instrumental in pioneering a new approach to expressive calligraphy. As is well known, Poppl was the first to use the ruling pen for writing, a fact well documented in the book and illustrated with numerous pictures of his works. The book also contains excellent documentation of the graphic and calligraphic works of the three artists, along with biographies and documentary photographs. One can admire the beautiful capitals, the elegant and always delicate antiqua of Werner Schneider, or the exuberant pages that create parallels with the dance and music by Gottfried Pott.
